Dallas immigration judge had "no concern" for children

The recent announcement that Dallas Immigration Judge Deitrich Sims would no longer hear cases on the juvenile immigration docket was welcome news to local advocates, who often criticized the judge’s handling of cases. Cases involving juveniles on the North Texas docket are now being assigned to a different immigration judge. According to a Dallas immigration advocacy group, Judge Sims routinely showed no concern or remorse for foreign nationals appearing before him, including children. In one case, Sims’ actions may have violated immigration law and nearly resulted in the deportation of an underage girl alone to a dangerous Central American country.

Isenberg: Obama's Executive Order on Immigration not Constitutional

ICIE founder Ralph Isenberg hopes the United States government improves the way they administrate immigration law, but he doesn't believe President Obama's recent executive order was not the way to do it. In fact, he doesn't believe the order was constitutional. "The President has gone over the line. When our government debates immigration, one man is not invited to the debate is the President. He stays home on the issue, except for issues like Temporary Protected Status," he said. Isenberg points out that only particular branches of government can regulate changes to immigration law. "The Departments of Health and Human Services, State, and Justice can make decisions that affect immigration, but they should report to Congress. In this editorial, ICIE founder Ralph Isenberg addresses the recent moves by both the President and Congress on the immigration issue. Once again, immigration reform has suffered yet another setback. The real question is whether the Congress or the President ever intended to pass meaningful immigration reform in the first place. I am of the opinion that our present immigration laws works just fine with some adjustment to so-called "reforms" during the Clinton era. Those that say the Republican leadership shot down immigration reform to get at President Obama are not correct. President Obama, by law, has very little to do with the immigration process and the Congress knows this.
